‘Up in the Air’ to screen at CineArt

CALLICOON, NY — CineArt will present “Up in the Air” at the Callicoon Theatre on Upper Main Street on Friday, February 5 through Wednesday, February 10 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Golden Globe-winner for Best Screenplay, “Up in the Air” stars George Clooney as a corporate downsizing expert whose solitary life on the road is in jeopardy when a young Cornell grad (Anna Kendrick) proposes a more efficient way to lay off workers: by computer. Vera Farmiga and Jason Bateman round out the cast.

Claudia Puig of USA Today comments: “Artfully blending a breezy, blithe spirit with a darker social satire, ‘Up in the Air’ has one of the year’s sharpest scripts and an exceptional ensemble cast.”

“Up in the Air” is rated R. Admission costs $9, $6 on Monday.

CineArt is a partnership between the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Callicoon Theater that promotes and screens independent, foreign and art films. A percentage of the profits and $1 per person from ticket sales benefit the programs and services of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the Arts Council for Sullivan County.
