Chorus start rehearsals; new singers welcome

MONTICELLO, NY — The Sullivan County Community Chorus, with conductor David Trombley and chorus accompanist Lucille Horton, will resume rehearsals Wednesday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Church of Monticello Presbyterian on Jones Street. The chorus is preparing for its annual spring concert, to be presented in mid-May, titled “A Celebration of American Composers,” and will feature works by Eric Lane Barnes, Joseph M. Martin, Vincent Persichetti, Randall Thompson, Samuel Barber, Robert DeCormier and Aaron Copland.

Rehearsals are open to interested singers, and there are no auditions. The ability to read music is helpful but not mandatory. Singers interested in joining the group must regularly attend Wednesday rehearsals, which run from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., starting no later than February 24.

Dues are $20 with a one-time $15 music deposit for those new to the chorus.
