Book tells history of Shandelee
SHANDELEE, NY A new book by Philip F. Rose, Shandelee, chronicles the history of the area and its settlers beginning from the British settlements back in the 1600s up to the present day.
Rose finely combs through the geography of Shandelee as he narrates the beginnings of the town of Livingston Manor,and enumerates the prominent families and historical events that shaped the town into the famous summer vacation spot Shandelee became at the height of its renown. The book features many photos, dating from as far back as the 1800s, and numerous notes on the locations of various establishments and other markers.
Rose was born in New York City in 1928. His family moved to the Catskills where his father ran a bar and grill called the Two Vets.
