NARROWSBURG, NY — The “Eagle Update,” led by Don Hamilton of the National Park Service and featuring speakers Peter Nye of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, shown above, and Eric Styles of New Jersey Audubon, holds the rapt attention of the audience at last Saturday’s EagleFest. In his presentation Nye emphasized that the biggest single continuing threat to the survival of the bald eagle is loss of habitat.

The crowd, which was estimated by the organizers (the Delaware Valley Eagle Alliance) at 3,000 plus, seemed bigger than ever this year, with the auditoriums for the popular live bird presentations filling to capacity a good 15 or 20 minutes before the start times. Some visitors traveled from as far away as Vermont for the ninth year of the festival.
