Manor’s ice carnival gets in gear

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The themes have been set for the snow sculpture contest that provides a popular centerpiece for the Livingston Manor Ice Carnival, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 16 and 17. Competitors in the sculpture contest are classes from Livingston Manor Central School, who this year have been asked to represent various sports. The freshmen plan to depict snowmobiling, the sophomores sledding, the juniors ice hockey and the seniors skiing/snowboarding.

Most events in the festival are held in Rotary Park, and the Livingston Manor Rotary is the sponsor. The ice dance will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 16 at the old gym of Livingston Manor Central school, where the Ice King and Queen will preside. There will be ice skating exhibitions, horse-drawn sleigh rides and more—including the judging of the sculpture contest—on Sunday, January 17. See next week’s paper for further details.
