This covered bridge, sculpted out of snow (not to mention snowed in) was the Livingston Manor class of 2009’s contribution to the Livingston Manor Ice Carnival snow sculpture contest last year. This year’s carnival and contest will occur on Saturday and Sunday, January 16 and 17.

Manor’s ice carnival gets in gear

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY—The themes have been set for the snow sculpture contest that provides a popular centerpiece for the Livingston Manor Ice Carnival, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 16 and 17. Competitors in the sculpture contest are classes from Livingston Manor Central School, who this year have been asked to represent various sports. The freshmen plan to depict snowmobiling, the sophomores sledding, the juniors ice hockey and the seniors skiing/snowboarding.

Countdown to EagleFest: River Gallery fundraiser

NARROWSBURG, NY—River Gallery - The Art of Living will host a fundraiser for EagleFest on Saturday, January 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event will feature a 50/50 raffle, including a drawing of a featured EagleFest artist poster in memory of Heidi Morse, a one-of-a-kind photo by noted wildlife photographer John DiGiorgio and more. Winter theatre class

NARROWSBURG, NY—Backstage is a free theatre program for kids ages seven to 18. Classes will begin at the Tusten-Cochecton branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library on Saturday, January 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The classes will continue on Saturday mornings for eight weeks and culminate with an original performance based on “Alice in Wonderland.” The production will be created by the participants under the direction of Tannis Kowalchuk.
