EMIL JOSEPH CHERVENICK
Emil Joseph Chervenick of Beach Lake. PA, a retired guard for the Federal Reserve Bank and a longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, December 22, 2010 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA.
The son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Bogdany Chervenick, he was born August 6, 1919 in Barnesboro, PA.
He is survived by sisters Betty Greenburg of Middle Island, NY and Louise Catapano of Riverhead, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Margaret.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, December 29 at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg. Father William Scully officiated. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.
DORIS YERKES HOCKER
Doris Yerkes Hocker of Milanville, PA, a housewife and a lifelong area resident, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Grover Hermann Division, Callicoon, NY. She was 88.
The daughter of the late Warren Noble and Helen Gertrude Jackson Yerkes, she was born September 24, 1921 in Milanville.
Doris was a 1939 graduate of Damascus High School and an active member of Calkins Baptist Church. She was the widow of George L. Hocker, who passed away on July 17, 2009. They were married on December 23, 1939 and would have been married 70 years this year. A family statement reads; She will be sadly missed by friends and family. Every member of our family was loved and touched by her own special quiet and loving manner.
Survivors include sons Ronald and wife Darlene of Milanville, G. Gary and wife Anita Ann of Milanville, Lyle and wife Opal of Beach Lake, PA and Warren D. and wife Margo of Milanville; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Doris is predeceased by sister Shirley Sandercock; brother William J. Yerkes; and grandson Aaron.
Funeral services will be private on Saturday, December 26 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY. Burial followed at Milanville Cemetery, Milanville.

MARIE MITZI KLASS
Marie Mitzi Klass of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009, at Belle Reve, Milford, PA. She was 96.
She was born on July 21, 1913 in Ringelsdorf, Austria, the daughter of the late Anton and Marie Kainz Wrba.
Mitzi married the late Frank Stanzl; and then married the late Adolph Ardie Klass. Mitzi was former co-owner of the Alexander Hotel in Sparrowbush.
She is survived by sons Frank A. Stanzl and wife Candy of Port Jervis, NY and Ardie Klass and wife Sue of San Diego, CA; daughter Frances Stanzl of Sparrowbush; step-sons Arthur Klass of W. Virginia and Peter Klass of Astoria, NY; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by daughters Jean Lutrell and Audrey Rothman; and grandsons George Lutrell and Keith Rothman.
Visitation and services were held at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis, on December 22. Interment was private.

SARAH AUTUMN KOENIG
Sarah Autumn Koenig of Milford, PA passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2009. She was 33 years old.
She was born November 13, 1976 in the Bronx to Beverly Frieri and Jacob Koenig.
She is survived by her parents; step-parents Frank Frieri and Ellen Oilman; sisters Rachael, Abigail and Elanor Koenig, as well as numerous loving family members and friends.
Sarah received her bachelors degree in journalism from the State University of New York at Purchase and her masters degree in journalism from the University of Phoenix. She was a writer, journalist and political activist. She wrote locally for several publications, including The River Reporter, The Times Herald-Record and Milford Magazine, and other national and online publications. Sarah volunteered as a lead for the 2008 Pike County Obama Presidential Campaign. Her friends and family describe Sarah as someone who proudly marched to the beat of her own drum, with not a mean bone in her body. She was a generous soul, giving back to her family and the community through her interest in local culture and politics, as well as her volunteer work with a local teen group. She will be severely missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

KATHLEEN T. POOLE
Kathleen T. Poole of Swan Lake, NY, a homemaker and longtime area resident, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. She was 68.
The daughter of the late Robert E. and Hazel M. Zieres McLaughlin, she was born February 22, 1941 in New York City.
She was a member of St. Peters Church in Liberty, NY and was the widow of George Poole, who died April 14, 2008.
Kathleen is survived by sons Dennis Toscano and wife Ruth of Liberty, NY and Frank Toscano of Narrowsburg, NY; daughters Christine Rubio and husband Max of Swan Lake and Patricia Inman and husband David of Swan Lake; two sisters Joan OConner of Cape May, NJ and Patricia Rappley of New City, UT; 14 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 27 at Ramsays Funeral Home, Liberty, with Msgr. Edward Collins officiating. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middlehope, NY.
CINDY ZYLSTRA
Cindy Zylstra of New York Mills, MN passed away on December 21, 2009 at her home. She was 58.
Cindy Lea Kasma was born on February 13, 1951 in Wadena, MN to Helen Ida (Perala) and the late LeRoy Alvin Kasma.
Cindy grew up in St. Louis Park, MN and after high school she moved to Sparta, NJ. In 1973 she married Donald Age Zylstra. Cindy and Don made their home in Cochecton, NY, where they farmed. They enjoyed traveling the world where they adopted their loving children in Romania and South Korea. In 2004, Don retired and the couple made their home in New York Mills. Cindy enjoyed knitting, puzzles, collecting bells and spoons. She was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in New York Mills.
Cindy is survived by her husband; her mother Helen Perala of Perham, MN; daughters Rodica Zylstra of Pompano Beach, FL, Ramona Zylstra of Frazee, MN and Gabriela Zylstra of New York Mills; son Adam Zylstra of Bluffto, MN; grandchild Tristan Bunker; sisters Lynn Kasma, Deb Loza and husband Jack and Kim Kasmal brothers Lonnie Kasma and Charles Kasma and wife Tammy; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; and a host of friends.
Preceding Cindy in death were her father LeRoy; and her infant daughter Sara.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, December 26 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in New York Mills with Reverend Muriel Hachfeld officiating.
