County to keep new building

TOWN OF BETHEL, NYBack in 2002, when the county accepted federal grants to build a new transportation facility on Airport Road in the Town of Bethel, the money came with strings attached. In return for the funding, the county agreed to provide an enhanced transportation program.
However, when the building was finished in September 2009, county officials faced the worst budget scenario theyd seen in many years, and decided that they could not afford to provide enhanced transportation. One way to avoid the conditions that came with the grant would be to sell or transfer the building to another municipality.

Is Sullivan gas overcooked?

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NYOn December 9, some Bethel residents received a letter inviting them to sign a membership agreement with the Rural Bethel Landowners Coalition. In joining, members agree to help pay attorneys fees if, and only if, the member signs a gas lease that is produced as a result of negotiations by the coalitions steering committee.

Recycling is expanded in Pike County
Single-stream program simplifies recycling

MILFORD, PAAfter searching several months for a solution to its recycling problems, the Pike County Commissioners announced that recycling services will be expanded and single-stream recycling will be introduced to encourage greater recycling, conserve resources and save money.
County residents can recycle a long list of items at 10 drop-off stations throughout the county.
