ThunderBlast toys picked up by Marine Corps League
MONTICELLO, NY Toys donated during the ThunderBlast event are picked up by the Catskill Detachment Marine Corps League. Honor society volunteers at food pantry
HONESDALE, PA National Honor Society (NHS) students from Western Wayne High School volunteered at the Wayne County Food Pantry packing bags for the Christmas Holiday baskets this past Tuesday. Over 400 bags were packed for families in need this holiday season. Western Wayne students collected and donated several boxes of non-perishable food items. In the back row are Renee Reeke, left; Tatiana Samson; Stacy Skates, president; Chloe Karnick; Lizzy Warninger; Casey Mican; and Emma Lamberton.
Gardeners give to Christmas Bureau
HONESDALE, PA Joan Gilbert, Treasurer of the Country Gardeners, left, presents a check to Carleen Faatz, Community Services Director, for the Wayne County Childrens Christmas Bureau. The Country Gardeners, whose members are from the Honesdale and Hawley area, hold meetings from April to December to learn about gardening. The club, consisting of 67 members, gave a substantial donation, consisting of the proceeds of a raffle and individual member donations, matched by the club secretary.
The Wayne County Childrens Christmas Bureau served 652 children this holiday season. Donations are appreciated and accepted at any time. Checks may be made out to WCCCB, P.O. Box 583, Honesdale, PA 18431.
County bar gives joy at CDD party
MILFORD, PA The Pike County Bar Association (PCBA) sponsored the Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDD) annual Christmas party on December 15, where Santa Claus delivered over 106 Christmas presents donated by the bar association. The PCBA shopped locally by purchasing many of its gifts from the Firefly Toy Store in Milford, which provided a discount in honor of the cause.
The PCBA has participated in the CDD gift giving for many years under a program originally started by the late Milford attorney and humanitarian, Jack Linshaw. The gifts were acquired by attorney Anthony Waldron; his wife, Debby Waldron, and their two adult children Dan and Vicky Waldron, and were purchased with funds from the Pike County Bar Association. Those present for the party included Santa Claus, Pike County Bar Association President Elizabeth Erickson Kameen, former Pike County Bar Association President Tony Waldron,; attorney Arthur Ridley, attorney Stacey Beecher Chelak and Attorney Kelly Gaughan.
