‘Capitalism, a Love Story’ at CineArt

CALLICOON, NY — On the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking documentary “Roger & Me,” Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) and the Callicoon Theater will present Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story.” The film examines head on the issue Moore has been examining throughout his career: the disastrous impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans. “Capitalism: A Love Story” is rated R and will screen nightly at 7:30 p.m. from Friday, December 4 to Monday, December 7 at the Callicoon Theater, 30 Upper Main Street.

As Moore sees it, today the American dream is looking more like a nightmare as families pay the price with their jobs, their homes and their savings. Moore takes us into the homes of ordinary people whose lives have been turned upside down; and he goes looking for explanations in Washington, DC, Wall Street and elsewhere.

Peter Travers of Rolling Stone says Moore “knows how to put a human face on statistics as we watch banks foreclose on the homes of families who never read the fine print. Moore’s fireball of a movie could change your life. It had me laughing with tears in my eyes.”

Admission costs $9, $6 on Mondays.

CineArt is a partnership between the DVAA and the Callicoon Theater that promotes and screens independent, foreign and art films. A percentage of the profits and $1 per person from ticket sales benefit the programs and services of the DVAA, the Arts Council for Sullivan County.
