FRANCES ARMETTA

Frances Armetta of Cochecton, NY died of complications of surgery on October 7, 2009.

Frances was the widow of the late Salvatore P. Armetta. She was a long time resident of Cochecton, NY and past Democratic Chairman of the Democratic Club of Cochecton.

She was a long-time employee of the NYSDOCS at Woodbourne Correctional Facility as head of correspondence, and retired from her state shop position at the Sullivan Correctional Facility.

She is survived by sisters Eunice Delaney of New York, Jacqueline Sitler of Georgia, Shirley Brown of Georgia, Edna Boessman of Florida and Dorothy Citarelli of Florida; daughters Cyndi Schuman of New York and Audrey Armetta of Florida; sons Robert W. Armetta of New York and Daniel P. Armetta of Florida; two grandsons; three granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

Frances will be dearly missed.


CLYDE ‘LUKE’ BREWER JR

Clyde “Luke” Brewer Jr. died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at his home in Sparrowbush, NY.

Surviving are his children Amber and Kimberly; grandchildren Angelica and Jada; father Clyde W. Brewer Sr.; mother Frances and husband George Fuller, stepfather; siblings Cheryl and Frank Murtaugh, Lisa and Donald Mills, Betsy and Rick Adams, George Fuller Jr. and Michelle; and all of his loving family.

Luke’s fiancé and loving caretaker Roxanne Boyce and his daughter, Georgia, held a memorial service on November 15, at Luke’s home.


VERA RACHEL DOLAND

Vera Rachel Doland, formerly of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Geneva Living Center. She was 82.

She was born September 7, 1927 in Greenwood, NY, the daughter of the late Floyd Raymond and Mary Rosetta Brownell Sherman.

Vera was a faithful member of the former Centenary United Methodist Church. For three consecutive years, she was the Volunteer of the Year at Woodbrook.

She is survived by her son Gary Doland and wife Barbara of Seneca Falls, NY; grandchildren Erica and husband Robert Agan of Elmira, NY, Lorrie Norris of Jeffersonville, NY and Heather Buck of Fayette, NY; six great-grandchildren; sister Helen Beacraft of Waverly, NY; sister-in-laws, Sylvia Ruef of Wurtsboro, NY and Nancy Martin of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband of 54 years, Richard E. Doland, predeceased her on October 9, 2003; and her son, Donald B. Doland, on June 15, 2007.

Visitation will be at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., Elmira/Southport, NY on Thursday, November 19, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Elmira, NY where Vera will be laid to rest with her husband Richard.

DOROTHY KRONGEL

Dorothy Krongel, a longtime resident of Jeffersonville, NY, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. She was 89.

The daughter of Max and Esther Gerber Siegel, she was born April 16, 1920 in New York City. Moving to Parksville as an infant, she graduated from Liberty High School and attended Hunter College.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, with whom she owned and operated the Krongel Agency, an insurance and real estate firm. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Jeffersonville Synagogue.

She is survived by daughter Barbara and husband Edwin Hamilton; son Michael and wife Kathy; grandchildren Allison and David Krongel; several nieces and nephews; and many caring friends and neighbors.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Abraham Siegel; and her sister, Augusta Ruderman.

Services were held on Sunday, November 15 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Interment followed at the Jeffersonville Hebrew Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.

MARGARET PEAKE

Margaret Peake of Obernburg, NY, a retired Villa Roma Resort chambermaid and a lifetime resident of the area, died Thursday, November 12, 2009. She was 90.

The daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Kille Schick, she was born May 27, 1919 in Obernburg. She was the widow of Norman Gettel and Francis Peake.

She was a member of St. Francis’ Church and the Altar Rosary Society in Obernburg.

She is survived by brothers Albert Schick and wife Evelyn of Obernburg and Lawrence Schick and wife Margaret of Bethel, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony Schick Jr. and Frank Schick; and a sister, Anna Dirie.

A funeral mass was held on Saturday, November 14 at St. Mary’s Church, Obernburg with Father Joseph Jeracek, OFM, officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Obernburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.


JUSTIN A. STORMS

Justin A. Storms of Glen Spey, NY, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at his home. He was 16.

He was born on May 31, 1993 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of Raymond and Susan Hocker Storms.

Justin was a 10th-grade student at Eldred Central School, Eldred, NY, and a member of the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, Pond Eddy, NY.

He is survived by his parents at home; brother Dylan Storms at home; maternal grandmother Sheila Hocker of Glen Spey; paternal grandmother Carol Storms of Port Jervis; maternal great-grandmother Kathy Sigler of Glen Spey; paternal great-grandparents Percy and Minnie Storms of Sussex, NJ; paternal great-grandmother Marie Cooper of Scranton, PA; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

There was no visitation. Funeral services were held Monday, November 16 at the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, Pond Eddy, NY. Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiated. Interment took place at the Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.


SIGRID I. WOLFE

Sigrid I. Wolfe of Feeding Mills, MA, formerly of Narrowsburg, NY, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at Country Estates in Agawam, MA. She was 79.

The daughter of the late Philip N. Werner and Ebba A. Bjorn Werner, she was born at the Swedish Hospital in Brooklyn on November 19, 1929.

She worked in New York City for James Cash Penney at JC Penney and at Idlewild Airport (now JFK International Airport). While raising her children, she worked nights at South Oaks Psychiatric Hospital. She retired after many years as the secretary for Narrowsburg Central School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her family, from picking up toads to sharing holidays together.

She is survived by sons James R. and wife Melissa, Thomas E. and wife Helen and William J. and wife Edith; daughters Eileen M. Peloquin and husband Richard, Ann M. Wolfe and Regina M. Malzahn and husband Clinton; grandchildren Lisa, Michael, Bryan, Lauren, Jennifer, Lindsay, AJ, Matthew, Kevin, Rachel, Daniel, Christopher, Patricia and Joseph; five great-grandchildren; and her poodle, Molly.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert; and her brother Gustave.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 19, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, November 20, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main St. Narrowsburg, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 20, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg, NY, with Father William Scully, O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
