Honesdale for the Holidays
HONESDALE, PA Those seeking a picturesque and festive venue to savor the first weekend of the holidays need look no further than historic Honesdale, where the annual Honesdale for the Holidays celebration will take place on Friday and Saturday, November 27 and 28.
The Fred Miller Pavilion on Main Street will be alive with holiday music on both days, with DJ Tom Emanski from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., sponsored by RE/MAX Wayne and Meagher Auction Services. Victorian-outfitted members of the Top Hats and Lace dance troupe will also be on hand, lending a Dickensian air to downtown Honesdales historic streets.
Elsewhere in town, visitors can view a large HO-gauge railroad display set up by the Stourbridge Model Railroad Club at Grace Episcopal Parish Hall (Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) The Model Railroad Club has created a large HO gauge railroad display that depicts the mythical town of Wayne. Railroad buffs may also enjoy The Wayne County Historical Society Museum, where visitors can view a full-scale replica of the famous Stourbridge Lion, the first locomotive to run on a track in America, or pick up the societys collectible Christmas ornament and other holiday gifts at the museum shop. The museum will be open both Friday and Saturday, with an open house on Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
There will be many open houses held by Honesdales stores, with seasonal hospitality for their shoppers and visitors. Such open houses can be found at Morning Glory Gifts, Girlfriendz, Country Creations, Milkweed, Wallflower and Country Dawn, among many others.
