Got talent? Come to Beach Lake

BEACH LAKE, PA — Performers entertain the crowd at one of Beach Lake’s Open Mic-N-Jams, held every Friday Night at the Big Apple Tavern on Route 652. The weekly event offers local talent an opportunity to demo their act, network with other performers, meet new fans and have a great time. All acts are welcome. ElektrixStudio.com provides a PA system, sound engineer, stage lights, mics and a full drum kit as well as DJ music between performers. The event is coordinated by Joe Longo and Carleen Faatz and co-sponsored by Player’s Row Music Supply, Digital Asylum Sound Recording Studio and The Village Square Advisor.

Student work showcased at Willow River

HONESDALE, PA — Summer Arts Expressions, showcasing work by a group of 11 Honesdale High School students, will be showcased until Christmas at the Willow River Gallery, with the opening on Saturday, November 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The students spent days over the summer with area artists Jeff George, Joan Hill and Ellen Silberlicht, working in their studios and learning new techniques with new materials. Those who participated were Justin Borsdam, Danielle Cortese, Sara Else, Renee Garofano, Danielle Griffis, Amber Korkes, Jocelyn Kovaleski, Chelsea Martin, Kylie Mickel, Caitlin Mullally and Trent Petriello.

These students received financial help from the Wayne County Community Foundation. They will donate the proceeds from sale of work to the coming summer art camp to be held at Honesdale High School.

Holidays start early at CAS

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Art Society (CAS) Arts Center’s annual Members Show & Holiday Fair will open on Saturday, November 21 and run through Wednesday, December 30. The show will be on display throughout the gallery, exhibiting the work of members of CAS and including many items suitable for holiday shopping. There will be an opening reception on November 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The usual hours of Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. will be expanded for the holiday season. The Arts Center will also be open on Monday to Wednesday, December 21 to 23, 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday to Wednesday, December 26 to 30, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.

The gallery will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. CAS Arts Center is located at 48 Main Street in Livingston Manor and is wheelchair accessible. For more information call 845/436-4227.

Community Christmas party offers truckloads of cash

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — The Jeffersonville Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Truck Load of Cash” party will be held on Sunday, December 6 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. It is an opportunity for area businesses to treat their employees to an evening of camaraderie and 30 chances to win $15,000 worth of cash prizes. Stourbridge holiday excursion celebrates unveiling of replica

HONESDALE, PA — There will be a special Lion Celebration Excursion on the Stourbridge Line on Saturday, November 28, departing at 10:00 a.m. from the Wayne County Visitors Center.

The ride is part of the celebration of the unveiling of Lionel’s replica of the Stourbridge Lion in Honesdale, frequently called the “birthplace of the American railroad.” Frosty, Rudolph and Santa will be on board for the scenic two-hour ride, which goes to Hawley and then returns to Honesdale. There will also be a Christmas carol sing-along.

Reservations are required. Tickets cost $15 per person. They may be purchased at the Trackside Grill on Main Street, or by calling 570/253-1960.

Tickets on sale for Plummer ‘Christmas Carol’

MILFORD, PA — Tickets are now on sale for the popular holiday reading of “A Christmas Carol,” to be performed by Joe Plummer and son at Grey Towers National Historic Site, 122 Old Owego Turnpike on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m.

Now in its 28th year, the dramatic reading has been a favorite holiday tradition at Grey Towers, continuing a tradition of hospitality and community spirit started by Gov. Gifford Pinchot and his family when they lived at the mansion.
