RUDOLF F. AURORI

Rudolf F. Aurori of Middletown, NY passed away on November 5, 2009 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 66.

He was born on November 21, 1942 in Astoria, NY to Ferdinand and Marie Seipel Aurori.

Rudolf was a talented bassoonist and music teacher for the Baldwin School District in Long Island. He was also a gifted craftsman who enjoyed woodworking.

He was an avid Mets fan with a dry sense of humor. Along with being a great husband, father and grandfather, Rudolf was a caring person and a thoughtful friend.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Holt Aurori; daughters Heather Sustack and husband, Joseph of Shohola, PA and Michele Anderson and husband Chad of Bethel, CT; sister Hildegard McDermott and husband Vincent of Saugerties, NY; and grandchildren Ava Sustack and Cole Anderson.

Visitation was held at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church on Tuesday, November 10. Burial followed at the O.C. Veteran’s Cemetery, Goshen, NY.

MARGARET ANN BUSH

Margaret Ann Bush of Beach Lake, PA, beloved wife of David Bush, passed away November 4, 2009, at Horton Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was 75.

Born in Middletown, NY to the late Imogene and Charles Reilly, she grew up in Pine Bush, NY, resided in Newburgh, NY then Smallwood, NY, moving to Beach Lake three years ago.

She and her husband founded Total Vision, serving Sullivan County for many years. Prior to that, she worked at Harris Hospital, Hudson Valley Life Support and Pepsi Co. of Newburgh. An avid Yankees and Tiger Woods fan, Margaret enjoyed her canine companions MeTu and Reilly, horses Aladdin and Max and her talents as a costume jewelry designer.

Margaret is survived by her children, Deborah Smith and husband Kim Corey of Oxford, CT, Stephen King Smith III of Jeffersonville, NY, Stephanie Smith Bielec of Pennellville, NY; stepdaughters Kelly and Jodi; grandchildren James Hollenbeck and fiancé Jennifer Conception, Lauren Hollenbeck, Stephen K. IV and Jessica Smith, Brianna and Thomas Bielec; numerous step-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Gerald Berry of Leesburg, FL; one great-grandson, one step-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service is planned.


CAROL A. CUMMINGS

Carol A. Cummings of Jeffersonville, NY, a retired bus driver and a longtime area resident, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. She was 73.

The daughter of the late Christian C. and Emma V. Lanigan Kramer, she was born March 30, 1936 in Bronx, NY. She was married to Peter J. Cummings.

She was formerly a Village of Jeffersonville board member, having served for many years.

She is survived by her husband at home; daughters Sue Conklin and husband Jeff of Jeffersonville, Laura Lee and husband Joe of SanBruno, CA and Ruth Cummings of Sunnyvale, CA; grandchildren Derrick and Jimi Lee, Kayla Imlay, Christian Vargas, Jennifer Vargas, Wilson Vargas Jr., Katie Vargas, and Kelly Vargas, Luke Conklin, and Kailee Brianna and Abbie Cummings; and many close and loving friends.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Imlay; and a brother, A. Christian Kramer.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 3 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.


VINCENT KILHULLEN

Vincent P. Kilhullen of Carley Brook, PA died unexpectedly at his home Thursday, October 29, 2009. He was 44.

Vincent was born in Honesdale, PA, the son of Ambrose and Elizabeth Wilcox Kilhullen of Lake Alden, PA. Vincent was baptized Catholic and enjoyed playing the harmonica. He also loved fishing and hunting.

Vincent is survived by daughters Melissa Biagi of Olyphant, PA, Michelle Kilhullen of Hawley, PA and Marisa Kilhullen at home, who was born with Rett Syndrome. He devoted the last 18 years loving and caring for her. Vincent called the girls the M&M’s. He is also survived by brothers Jeffrey Kilhullen of Narrowsburg, NY, Leonard Kilhullen of Thompson, PA and Daniel Kilhullen of Carley Brook; sisters Sharon Cook of Lake Ariel, PA, Brenda North of Abrahamsville, PA, Deborah Cosman of Florida, and Cindy Kowalcyk of Honesdale.

Funeral services were on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale. Burial followed in the Calkins Cemetery, Milanville, PA.

WILMER RAY PEOPLES

Wilmer Ray Peoples of Hawley, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2009 at home. He was 77.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence DeRalph Peoples. He was born in Punxsutawney, PA on September 23,1932, the son of Chester and Blanche Murray Peoples. He graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1951-1957.

Upon graduating in 1960 from the Ross Leffler School of Conservation in Brockway, he was assigned to the northeast region as a Wildlife Conservation Officer in charge of land management with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. He served the sportsmen of Wayne, Pike, Lackawanna and Susquehanna counties by managing state game lands for 33 years. Career highlights included the design of public rifle ranges, the design and development of the Shohola Waterfowl Area and the Bald Eagle Recovery Project, for which he made three trips to Lake LaRounge, Saskatchewan to bring eaglets back to the Shohola area, which he helped raise and release. Throughout his career, Wilmer was involved in all aspects of wildlife conservation, including forestry, ecology, game propagation, and law enforcement. He was an avid sportsman, hunting in Wyoming and Pennslyvania and fishing at his camp in Hay Bay, Ontario. He was a gardener and in recent years became interested in computers and electronics.

In addition to his wife, Wilmer is survived by sons Dennis and wife Deborah of Hawley and Kenneth and wife Catherine of Center Valley, PA; daughter, Cynthia May and husband Glenn of Beach Lake, PA; daughter-in-law Lea Peoples of Lakeville, PA and mother-in-law Mary DeRalph, brother-in-law Raymond DeRalph and sister-in-law Rita Pruzinsky, all of DuBois, PA; grandfather of Eric Peoples and wife Joyce, Dana Freethy and husband Jason, Erin Murtaugh and fiancee John Schuman, Brian Murtaugh, Peter Lynch and wife Alicia, Laura and Michael Peoples, and Tessa, Tomias and Nicholas Peoples.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Peoples in 1993.

Services are private at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to The Nature Conservancy, or to the donor’s favorite charity.


WILLIAM SWINGLE

William B. Swingle died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in his home in Chambersburg, PA. He was 84.

The son of the late Carleton and Eva Martin Swingle, he spent most of his life in Lake Ariel, PA and, later, Shohola, PA. A combat veteran of WWII; he was a heavy equipment operator and had an auto repair business.

He is survived by relatives in Wayne County, PA and in Chambersburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Drum Swingle.

Graveside services and interment will be at Canaan Corners Cemetery, Owego Turnpike, Waymart, PA at noon on November 14. The Rev. Edmund Cotton will officiate.
