CONNIE ALBINO

Connie Albino of Bethel, NY died on Friday, October 30, 2009 at home. She was 75.

Born December 18, 1933 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Marie Racalbuto.

Connie was the wife of Joseph Albino, whom she married on June 15, 1952. The two moved up to their home on the “mountain” 30 years ago where they spent their years together with family and friends enjoying life in the country.

A family statement reads, “She was a special woman. She was Italian, a great cook and she loved her family. Everyone who crossed her path felt like family, welcomed, well fed and made to laugh. She was tough and strong. She was the captain of our team. She was smart, tactful and witty. The wisdom she passed on could never be taught from a book. It was the wisdom of a strong, Italian woman who knew her place in this world. She was fun. She was loved and adored by her husband. They understood each other, cared for one another and shared a love so strong. She loved her daughter and her grandchildren. Her favorites were her great-grandchildren. She would refer to them as her boy, her girl, her life. They brought her joy and peace. She accomplished what she wanted to and that was to guide her family and help make each of them better people.”

In addition to her husband Joe at home, she is survived by her daughter, Dolores Albino-Delgado of Bethel; her grandchildren Danielle Gaebel and partner Jennifer Bitetto of Narrowsburg, NY, Joseph Hernandez of Bethel and Genna Delgado of Bethel and promised Steven Ferrari of Marlton, NJ; great-grandchildren Geri and Jason Gaebel of Narrowsburg; her sister Sandy Gomez of Spring Hill, FL; a special nephew, Robert Gomez and wife Dawn of Spring Hill; sister-in-law Dolores Pagano of Brooklyn, NY; a special niece, Denise Schiller and husband Wally of Queens, NY; brother-in-law, John Menechino of Wantagh, NY; special friends George and Wills Santiago of Fremont Center, NY; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is predeceased by her sister Santa Menechino.

A memorial service was held on November 1, 2009 at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg, NY.

CAROL K. LEITHNER BEGGS

Carol K. (nee Leithner) Beggs of Narrowsburg, NY, formerly of Ridgefield Park and Ramsey, NJ, died on Thursday, October 29, 2009. She was 66.

She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Grace Leithner.

Carol was employed by Agfa Corporation for 21 years before retiring in 2000. She loved NASCAR, reading, music and watching movies and sports.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle Gannon-Gadoury and husband Todd of Narrowsburg; grandchildren James, Alyssa and Mackenzie; niece and nephew Jason and Melissa Hartig; and extended family members Jo-Ann Snyder, Elsie Gannon, June Hardenbergh, Lester Quick and Dan Jenkins.

She was predeceased by her son in law James Gannon.

A funeral service was held on Monday, November 2 at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, Ramsey, NJ. Interment followed at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson, NJ.


FRANCIS BENSLEY JR

Francis Bensley Jr. of Shohola, PA, died Sunday, November 1, 2009, at home. He was 53.

Born in Newton, NJ to the late Francis Bensley, Sr., and Dorothy Malone Bensley, Mr. Bensley was raised in Sussex County, NJ and lived in Shohola since 2004.

He was employed by Walmart of Newton as an overnight stocker. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, Mr. Bensley enjoyed his granddaughters, wrestling and NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Predmore Bensley; six children, Andrea Bensley of Port Jervis, NY, Eugene Mackerley Jr. of Hawley, PA, Sean Mackerley of Shohola, Crystal Hicks of Milford, PA, Adam Hames of Shohola and Alex Hames of Shohola; granddaughters Destinijane Hicks and Tara Rose Hicks; brothers Randy Bensley of Sussex, NJ, Harold Bensley of Sussex, Donald Bensley of Florida and Rick Bensley of Sparrowbush, NY; sisters Linda Perry of Tennessee, Brenda Wildrick of Port Jervis and Lori Snover of Port Jervis; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bensley was predeceased by sister Diane Moran and brother Bud Bensl.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton, NJ. Interment will follow in North Hardyston Cemetery.

ANTHONY J. DURKIN SR

Anthony J. Durkin of Callicoon Center, NY, died suddenly on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. He was 65.

The son of the late Walter and Marie Durkin, he was born December 31, 1943 in Mount Vernon, NY.

Anthony was a high school graduate who worked in ShopRite for many years before starting his own business. He owned A & R Advertising in Livingston Manor, NY before retiring. He was a volunteer fireman for the past 35 years. A family statement reads, “Anthony had a tremendous love for life and all who knew him will remember his great sense of humor and the stories he told! He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.”

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Durkin; his mother Mary Durkin; sons Anthony Durkin Jr. and wife Judy and Raymond Durkin and wife Erin; daughter Angela Morales and husband Rico; grandchildren Michael, Marianne, and Elaine Durkin, Sam Durkin, Ella and Nina Morales; brothers and sisters Tom Rowan, Bob Rowan and wife Yvonne, John Durkin, Walter Durkin Jr. and wife Maria, Mary Quinn and husband Dennis, Carolyn Bivins and husband Larry, Evelyn Ruppert and husband Rick, and brother-in-law Tom Totten. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother, Marie Durkin; father Walter Durkin; sister Betty Totten; and nephews Kurt Rowan and Carlos Quinn.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 30 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, NY.

BEVIN ANN GILMORE

Ms. Bevin Ann Gilmore of Eugene, OR died on Friday, October 30, 2009 of complications from an asthma attack. She was 59.

Bevin is survived by her mother Mildred Gilmore of Highland Lake, NY; sisters Andrea Brannelly of Draper, UT, Lynn McNally of Round Hill, VA, Loretta Clausen of Virginia Beach, VA; and brother Eugene W. Gilmore III of Brooklyn; seven nieces, four nephews; cousins and many friends.

Bevin was preceded in death by her father, Eugene W. Gilmore Jr.

She was a 1968 graduate of Wantagh HS, Wantagh, New York. A family statement reads in part: “Bevin was a loyal and committed comrade to many friends and strangers in need. She worked for a number of causes, particularly for the Special Olympics, the Veteran’s Association and in medical transcription for Peace Health. In her youth, Bevin was a ballet dancer for the Eglevsky Ballet Company on Long Island. No words can say how greatly she will be missed.”

Friends are invited to call on Friday, November 6 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 7 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Harrison-Rasmussen Funeral Home 3412 Route 97, Barryville, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, November 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Yulan, NY. Interment will follow at Montoza Cemetery in Eldred, NY.


KEVIN O’CONNOR

Kevin P. O’Connor of Glen Spey, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at home. He was 55.

The son of the late Michael O’Connor and the late Patricia C. McKeever Tucker, he was born December 9, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY. Kevin served in the US Air Force as a sergeant in the military police. He was a member and usher for St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Shohola, PA.

A family statement reads: “Kevin was a very talented poet who loved to write and express his feelings. He loved to spend time with his nieces, nephew and great nieces. He was a special guy who will greatly be missed.”

He is survived by brothers Martin Tucker of Myrtle Beach, SC and Glenn C. Tucker of Honesdale, PA; nieces Rebecca Tucker, Katherine Tucker, Stephanie Tucker and Jesse Tucker; and nephew Andrew Tucker.

Kevin is predeceased by a brother, Michael John O’Connor.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Shohola, PA. Father Thomas Major will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery.


ROBERT G. PANTLEY

Robert G. Pantley of Port Jervis, NY died peacefully at the home of his daughter on Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Glen Spey, NY, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 67.

He was born in Port Jervis, the son of the late Gessner and Elsie Culver Pantley.

He graduated from Port Jervis High School and from Leland powers in Boston, MA. He retired from Wilder Mfg. in Port Jervis and was a Member of Port Jervis Lodge of Masons #328 F.& A.M.

He had a passion for storytelling and was known as the “Old Canaler” for the Neversink Valley Area Museum. He enjoyed acting and participated in Presby Player productions for the First Presbyterian Church as well as singing baritone in choral groups and entertaining for numerous charity events. In retirement he enjoyed history, painting, his grandchildren and the “Red Sox and Yankees rivalry”.

Bob is survived by his former wife, Susan Fleming of Exeter, NH; sister Gail Anglin and husband, David of Ottawa, Canada; son Gessner Pantley and wife Jodi of Vero Beach, FL; daughters Ellen Gulla and husband Tony of Glen Spey and Maureen Pantley and fiance Keith Kizer of Sparrowbush, NY; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, November 6, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with The Rev. Robert Cassidy officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Westbrookville Cemetery, Westbrookville, NY.

WILLIAM C. PRICE JR

William C. Price Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Agape Hospice. He was 71.

Born on April 23, 1938 in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of the late William C. and Adalaide Georgie Price Sr.

Mr. Price is survived by his wife, Janet Ringen Price of Myrtle Beach; one son, Michael Price and wife Kelly of Pine Bush, NY; one daughter, Staci Card and husband Robert of Glen Spey, NY; one brother, Richard Price (Diane) of Middletown, NY; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Monday, November 2, at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis, NY. Burial will be private with the family.

MARIE L. REAGAN

Marie L. Reagan of Honesdale, PA died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis B. Reagan.

Born in Honesdale to the late Louis and Mary Smith LaPoint, she was valedictorian of her 1937 Honesdale High School class. She worked as an assistant finance officer for the Honesdale National Bank and after raising her children enjoyed a second career at Kinsman’s Farm Equipment, Honesdale. She was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Honesdale and the Daughters of St. John’s. Marie enjoyed square dancing and was active for many years with the Rare Squares Dancers. She was also a long-time volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons Robert and wife Ruth Ann, Beach Lake, PA and James and wife Joanne of Coatesville, PA; grandchildren Tracy, Paula, James and Jessica; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer; brothers Arthur, Fred, James, Francis and John; and sisters Rosella Brinkman and Dorothy LaPoint.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 30, 2009 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale with Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery, Honesdale.

JACK S. SCHADT

Jack S. Schadt of Jeffersonville, NY, a former supply officer at Delaware Valley Job Corps, Callicoon, NY and a lifetime area resident, died October 29, 2009 at home. He was 86.

The son of Frederick W.V. Schadt and Ann Royce Schadt, he was born December 6, 1922 in Jeffersonville, NY.

He was a member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #521 Free and Accepted Masons. Jack was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include daughter Dorothy Moylan and husband Walter; son Charlie Schadt and wife Sue; grandchildren Karen and George Keller, Jodi and Kevin Allen, Jack and Jennifer Moylan, Chelsie Schadt, Courtney Schadt and Kristi and Ron Hewlett; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Adelaide Schadt; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Frederick W.V. Schadt, Willard “Bill” Schadt, Katherine Schadt and Millicent Flynn.

Masonic services were held Sunday, November 1 at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville.
