DHC receives environmental award

WILKES-BARRE, PA — The Delaware Highlands Conservancy (DHC), based in Hawley, PA and Monticello, NY, received one of eight Environmental Partnership Awards presented by the Northeast Pennsylvania Environmental Partners at its 19th Annual Evening for Pennsylvania’s Environment dinner on October 22. The award honors the DHC’s creation of the Shop Local, Save Land Program, which joins local and regional businesses in a marketing network, and brings local residents and visitors to the Upper Delaware River region together with the agricultural and wood products businesses whose economic success is imperative to the maintenance of the region’s rural character and ecological success. The DHC partnered with local conservation districts, tourist promotion agencies, county agencies and others to develop its guides to farms and farm markets and to wood products. Shown with the award is DHC founder Barbara Yeaman, left, DHC Conservation Education Coordinator Amanda Subjin and DHC board member Krista Gromalski.
