Art and life of Brownscombe provides ‘Food for Thought’

HONESDALE, PA—Sally Talaga, Executive Director of the Wayne County Historical Society, will be the featured speaker in the last “Food for Thought” talk of 2009 on Saturday, October 31 at 4:30 p.m., at the society’s museum at 810 Main Street. The presentation is titled “WCHS’s Works of Art by Jennie Brownscombe.” The historical society owns a large collection of Brownscombe’s works.

Fiddling up a storm in Beach Lake

BEACH LAKE, PA—The Old Time Fiddlers of Northeast PA will host their annual fiddle festival on Sunday, November 1. The event will be held at the Beach Lake Fire Hall, Route 652. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., with music starting at 2:00 p.m. Fiddlers will have a 15-minute showcase to perform their favorite tunes and songs.

Halloween happenings

Parade and costume contest

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—The Jeffersonville Halloween parade will be held on Friday, October 30 beginning with a line up at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Jeffersonville Library. Following the parade, judging for costumes will begin in the firehouse at 7:00 p.m. with donuts and cider for all. This event is open to all children, and sponsored by the Jeffersonville Lions Club, the Jeffersonville Fire Co. No. 1 and the Sullivan West Faculty Association.
