This petite Northern saw whet owl lives at the Delaware Valley Raptor Center (DVRC) in Milford, PA. The raptor rehabilitation center brought some of its feathered residents to Narrowsburg, NY, for an educational program held at the Tusten-Cochecton branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library last Friday.

Although owls are challenging to spot in the wild, folks around the region have had several opportunities lately to gain up-close glimpses of some owl species that inhabit Northeastern Pennsylvania. Live birds of prey were presented by two wildlife rehabilitators during educational talks in Bangor, PA and Narrowsburg, NY, recently.
Trees begin to show their bones and sinew as leaves tumble. The stark beauty of their architecture lends sculptured nobility to the coming season. As the garden continues its enfoldment into earth and compost heap, aesthetic shapes of change bring a hard, yet pleasant vision of Nature renewed. The brightened palette of leaf colors succumbs to gravitys pull, dropping a rainbow of useful material for improving soil.
