‘The Children’s Hour’ to be staged at museum

HURLEYVILLE, NY — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop will brings its 2009 season to a close with Lillian Hellman’s drama “The Children’s Hour,” scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday October 16, 17 and 18 and 23, 24, and 25 at the Sullivan County Museum at 265 Main Street.

They play is based on a true story of two female teachers who were condemned by their community when a student alleged that they were having a homosexual affair. First produced in 1934, it was a major commercial and critical success and almost immediately earned the novice playwright a lasting place in the American theater.

Under the direction of Bunny Woloszczak of Hurleyville, the cast includes Heather Strauss of Glen Wild, Ellen Pavloff of Kerhonksen, Sally Gladden of Wood-ridge, Linda Seminario of Monticello and Tom DelFavero of Livingston Manor.

Friday and Saturday performances will be at 8:00 pm and Sunday performances at 2:00 pm. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens (60 plus) and $7 for students with a valid ID. Due to mature content, this show is not suitable for young children.
