Children’s book teaches respect for the environment

NEWFOUNDLAND, PA — “Let Me Tell You All About,” an illustrated children’s book by local author Sigrid Klauck Wilshinsky, introduces children to a fantasy forest and the animals that inhabit it.

The forest creatures in “Let Me Tell You All About” are under the supervision of Mother Coony, a raccoon that takes care of orphaned animals. The book takes readers through the forest, sharing 13 stories about the animals and their adventures. Readers will witness a woodchuck having a flying adventure, a group of animals taking swimming lessons from a frog, and Mother Coony teaching her animal children about floods and the hazards that nature presents.

Wilshinsky was inspired by her own conservation efforts to write “Let Me Tell You All About.” She was on the board of directors of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy for two years, and has studied wildlife and cared for domestic and wild animals for over 40 years. She hopes to teach children to take an interest in and make a connection with their natural surroundings.
