Murder most foul at St. Callixtus
Was the sale to a natural gas driller the last straw?
CALLICOON, NY St. James Episcopal Churchs annual murder mystery dinner party, held this year on Saturday, October 3 at 5:00 p.m., will feature a special guest star: the Rt. Rev. Catherine Roskam, Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of New York. A professional actor before she became a priest, Bishop Roskam will appear as the Rt. Rev. Regina Woodhull, who will act as chief investigator.
St. Callixtus, Callicoon, is in an uproar. The somewhat eccentric Synod of Albion, of which St. Callixtus is a member, has been wracked with controversy over gender roles and ordination. Closer to home, the local church is divided over possible sale of a church-owned farm to an energy conglomerate with an interest in natural gas drilling. And, to top it off, there are rumors of mishandling of the churchs investments. Pastor Cassandra Blake is leaving St. Callixtus, presumably for greener pastures, but rumor has it that some folks dislike her so much that leaving town may not be enough.
Personally interview the suspects before sitting down to a church supper style dinner. Add your questions to those of the investigator as the prime suspects are interrogated. Then all will be revealed.
In her non-fictional role, Bishop Roskam will officially visit St. James (on Route 97 across from Roches Garage), on Sunday, October 4, celebrating the Eucharist at the 10:30 a.m. service.
The cost of admission, which includes dinner, is $15. Reservations are suggested. For more information call 845/887-5454.
