Musical mystery theatre

PORT JERVIS, NY — Try-City Stage will present “Curtains” from Thursday, October 1 to Sunday, October 4 at the Erie Trackside Depot. The musical murder mystery will be presented as a dinner theater package on October 2 and 3.

The ticket price includes a complete buffet dinner and show. Seating begins at 6:00 p.m. and the performance starts at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday there is a show only at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday a show only at 3:00 p.m.

A “play within a play,” Curtains” takes place backstage at Boston’s Colonial Theatre in 1959. It’s the opening night of “Robbin’ Hood of the Old West” and the new musical could be a smash hit, if it weren’t for the show’s untalented leading lady. When she is murdered during the curtain call, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi is summoned to conduct an investigation. The lure of the theater soon becomes irresistible to the stage-struck detective and he finds himself just as dedicated to making the show a hit as he is to solving the murder.

The production is directed by Bill Thomas, choreography by Melissa Thomas and musical direction by Sandy Stalter. Featured performers include Bill Thomas, Melissa Thomas, Jim Quinlan, Christy Merchant, Kim Golden, Steve Davis, Noreen Hanson, Tim Webster, Jeff Brewster, Andrew Hankins, Eric Malave, Larry Utter, George Stalter and Paula Flickenschild.

Members of the ensemble include Taylor James, Eric Cuevas, Jaime Wright, Dionna Eshleman, Anthony Reyes, Cristina Estepa, Jonathan Bolte, Serita Falkowski, Kody Andreas, Heather Stevens, Kelly McGinn, Lucas Cuevas, Andrea Wynn and Karuss Williams.

Tickets are $20 for show-only performances on Thursday and Sunday, and $45 for the dinner theater package on Friday and Saturday. All seats are reserved, and early reservations are strongly suggested.
