Local composer Hoiby featured at ‘Music of Our Time’

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and Delaware Valley Chamber Orchestra will present the 19th annual “Music of Our Time” concert, presenting music written by local composers, to take place on Saturday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Tusten Theatre. Lee Hoiby, who has lived in Long Eddy for 28 years, is this year’s featured composer.

Works include Hoiby’s Woodwind Sextet, performed by the renowned Dorian Wind Quintet with pianist Betsi Hodges; the Cello Sonata, performed by Duo Navona (Betsi Hodges and Brian Hodges); and the Whitman Songs, performed by Steve Utzig of Narrowsburg, baritone, with Lee Hoiby at the piano.

Other composers include Paquito d’Rivera (his woodwind quintet) and Gabriella Morris, a high school sophomore at Livingston Manor Central School.

The Tusten Theatre is located at 210 Bridge Street. Tickets cost $15. DVAA members receive a $2 discount on advance sales.
