Bethel Harvest Moon square dance

WHITE LAKE, NY — The Town of Bethel Bicentennial Committee will present the Harvest Moon Square Dance on Saturday, October 3 starting at 7:00 p.m. with a western square dance performance by the Happy Footers with caller Bill Wagner. The Texans (Jim Greier and Doug Imoor Band) will perform from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. with open square dance and line dancing. Light refreshments and deserts will be available. Admission costs $2, with children admitted free. The event, sponsored by the Town of Bethel and the Bethel Local Development Corporation, will be held at Faith Hall located on Route 17B and Mattison Road.

WJFF’s First Annual Gala Wine and Beer Tasting Party

PARKSVILLE, NY — On Saturday, September 26 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. the Catskill Mountain Yoga Retreat will host a fundraiser for WJFF-Radio Catskill with a wine and beer tasting party. There will be wines from Callicoon Wine Merchant, Belgian beers from Gasko & Meyer and hors d’oeuvres from local purveyors. The event costs $45 per person.

Red Eft Gallery exhibit

WURTSBORO, NY — The Red Eft Gallery will host a new exhibition, “Sacred Grounds, Honored Spirits: Embracing Our Role of Stewardship.” The show, which may be viewed from October 3 through October 31, brings together the work of nine extraordinary artists, each exploring our relationship to and responsibility for the flora and fauna that surround us. The artists use painting, sculpture and photography to explore the lands we have chosen to preserve and the animals with which we share the planet. Participating artists include Jerry Cohen, Linda Bayer Domanoski, Fritz Drury, Elinore Hollinshead, William Rivelli, Judy Sigunick, Phil Sigunick, Thomas Stratton and Marlene Wiedenbaum.

An artists’ reception will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10.

Red Eft Gallery, located at 159 Sullivan Street, is open to the public Fridays from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 6:00 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5:00 p.m., or by appointment. For more information call 845/888-2519.

HONESDALE, PA — The last open house of 2009 at Honesdale’s Old Stone Jail is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The jail, located between 10th Street and the Wayne County Court House, is celebrating its 150th birthday this year. Visitors to the open house enjoy a free tour of the stone structure, which housed Wayne County’s mischief-makers, burglars and murderers from 1859 to 1935 and is now maintained as a historic site by the Wayne County Commissioners and Wayne County Historical Society.
