JOSEPH HAROLD ACKER
Joseph Harold Acker of Hawley, PA died on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. He was 58.
Born July 22, 1951 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Harold B. and Anna Bociarski Acker. He was employed at the Human Resource Center in Beach Lake, PA.
Joe enjoyed eating, bowling and was an avid fan of the World Wrestling Entertainment. He was fascinated with space shuttles and loved outings with the Human Resource Center and visiting the family farm. He was baptized at St. John the Evangelist Parish.
He is survived by brothers Chuck and wife Kathy of Prompton, PA and Pete and wife Annette of Honesdale; sisters Helen Martin of Honesdale and Mary Mandeville of Beach Lake; nephews Brian and Cody Acker and Joseph Mandeville Jr.; nieces Shana Acker-Delaney, Autumn Acker, Heather and April Mandeville and Elizabeth Bortree; aunts, uncles, great nieces and great nephews; and his extended family at the Human Resource Center.
He was preceded in death by his brother Philip; his friend Ruth Sailer; and nieces June and Rebecca Acker and Angel Mandeville.
A blessing service was held at Hessling Funeral Home, Honesdale on Tuesday, September 15 by Fr. William Langan, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish. Cremation followed at Maple Hill at Salem Crematory.

ROBERT A. CUTRONI
Robert A. Cutroni of Mongaup Valley, NY passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family members. He was 69.
The son of the late Frank and Doris Booth Cutroni, he was born on October 15, 1939 in Worcester, MA.
Robert was a retired LPN at the Montgomery Nursing Home in Montgomery, NY. He was a member of St. Josephs Church in Mongaup Valley and a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1961-1964.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Bohn Cutroni, at home; sons Robert L. Cutroni of Nevada and James T. Cutroni of Mongaup Valley; daughter Lisa Cutroni of New Paltz, NY; brother Frank Cutroni of Florida; sisters Mary Aquino and husband John of West Nyack, NY, Donna Lanni and husband Nick of Clearwater, FL, Marguerite Cutroni of Maine and Linda Cutroni of Scarsdale, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Frankie Cutroni.
Prayer services were held at Ramsays Funeral Home, Kauneonga Lake, NY on Saturday, September 12 with Fr. John Tran officiating.
Cremation was at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

ROBERT W. COACH ELCO
Robert W. Coach Elco of Narrowsburg, NY, a retired athletic director, coach and drivers ed instructor of the Narrowsburg Central School and a longtime resident of the area, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He was 69.
The son of the late William and Anna Elco, he was born February 3, 1940, in New York City.
Robert graduated from Tusculum College and received his masters from Ithaca College. He was a member of the Tusten Volunteer Ambulance Corps and a Narrowsburg volunteer fireman, a former Town of Tusten constable, a Lions Club member and AARP driving instructor, a member and former president of the Western Sullivan League and a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. He received the New York State Athletic Administrator Assoc. Award and the Western Sullivan League Athletic Director Service Award, both in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Frederick Elco; daughters Wendy Keesler and husband Kory of Damascus, PA and Kimberly Santora and husband Joseph of Jessup, PA; grandchildren Kellan and Amanda Rose Keeler and Gabriella and Laura Santora; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, September 15 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, with Pastor Donald Beck officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg.

BARBARA ELLIOTT
Barbara Elliott of New Berlin, NY died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, NY. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Marvin and Millie Williams, she was born November 13, 1922, in Columbus, NY. A longtime resident of Sidney, NY, she was the widow of Richard Elliott, who died in 2002.
A family statement reads: Barb, or Grandma, as she was known to her loving family, was the light of our lives. Her warmth, friendship, compassion, faith, optimism and unending love were an inspiration to all and served to bind her close to our hearts. We know her love for us continues, as we will continue loving others in the tradition she so wonderfully taught us. We will miss her deeply, but we will not ever forget her.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Elliott of Cazenovia, NY; daughter Barbara Hust of Kenoza Lake, NY; four grandchildren including Dan Hust of Damascus, PA and Rebekah (Hust) Failla of Alfred; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in New Berlin. Private burial was made in St. Andrews Cemetery.

JOHN F. GLENNEN
John F. Glennen of Port Jervis, NY, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at his home in Port Jervis. He was 78.
He was born on March 1, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late John and Margaret Ayling Glennen.
John was a retired salesman for Orange West Plumbing Supply in Port Jervis and Middletown, NY. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War.

John is survived by his daughter, Linda Lee Glennen and husband Robert Bea of Shohola, PA; brother Thomas Glennen of Unionville, NY; grandchildren Michelle Pearson and husband Randy and Sgt. Zachary Travis, U.S. Army; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, August Auggie Brown Glennen.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
SUSAN GORDON
Susan Gordon of White Lake, NY, died August 26, 2009 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. She was 66.
She was born April 10, 1943.
She was the beloved mother of Adam and Kim. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Beatriz; and grandchildren Sabrina, Ethan, Savannah and Tristan.
Funeral services were held at Plaza Funeral Home in New York City on Friday, August 28, 2009.
JOSEPH A. MCCONNELL
Joseph A. McConnell of Narrowsburg, NY, a retired equipment operator for the Town of Tusten Highway Department and lifelong resident of the area, died Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. He was 81.
The son of the late John and Mildred Gerritty-McConnell, he was born July 23, 1928, in Hawley, PA.
Joseph was the widow of Shirley McConnell, who passed away on April 30, 1998. They were married for 46 years.
Joseph was a member of the St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, the VFW of Highland Lake and a Tusten Volunteer Fireman. Joseph served in the Army during the Korean War and earned the Purple Heart Medal.
He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Butler and husband Steven of Blufton Oaks, SC; sons Donald and wife Victoria of Beach Lake, PA, Gary and wife Deborah of Palenville, NY, Scott and wife Jill of Beach Lake and Joseph and wife Kathy of Beach Lake; four granddaughters and five grandsons; one great grandson; brothers Jacky McConnell of California and William McConnell of Honesdale; sister Delores Stegner of Honesdale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joseph was predeceased by three brothers.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Narrowsburg, NY with Father William Scully O.F.M. officiating.
Cremation followed at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.

ROBERT F. MIGLIORATO JR
Robert F. Migliorato Jr of Chester, NY, a 35-year area resident, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at home. He was 60.
Born in Yonkers, NY on November 9, 1948, Robert was the son of Robert F. Migliorato Sr. and Julia A. Basile Migliorato of Chestnut Ridge, NY.
Robert was a retired detective and the director of the Juvenile Aide Department for the Spring Valley Police Department, Spring Valley. He was a 1970 graduate of SUNY Albany and a retired Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army National Guard, Orangeburg after 20 years of service.
In addition to his parents, Robert is survived by his wife, Lesley A. Roselli Migliorato, at home; daughters Brooke Brooks and husband Gabe of Port St. Lucie, FL and Meredith Migliorato of Greensboro, NC; aunt Florence Thomas of Chestnut Ridge; sisters Linda Fedorick and husband Joseph of Sparrowbush and Janice Migliorato of Spring Valley; grandchildren Cooper and Gracie Brooks; and nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated by Roberts brother-in-law, Rev. Mark J. Roselli, S.J., on Saturday, September 12 at St. Anastasia Parish Church, Harriman. Cremation followed at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.

MILDRED F. SCHIPS
Mildred F. Schips of Port Jervis, NY, a lifetime resident, died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at home. She was 91.
She was born October 10, 1917 in Port Jervis, the daughter of the late Stephen A. and the late Edith VanNess Francisco.
Mildred was a 1935 graduate of Port Jervis High School and graduated from Rider College. She married Ralph Schips on January 15, 1949. Ralph died January 26, 1996.
Mildred worked as an administrative secretary for the New York City Board of Water and Gillinder Brothers Glass.
She was a pillar of the Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis and a Past Matron of River Valley Chapter #33, O.E.S. She was a member of the board of visitors of the former Middletown Psychiatric Center and, along with her husband, served as cooperative observers for the U.S. Weather Station in Port Jervis.
Surviving are sister-in-law Mary H. Schips of Port Jervis; nephew David Schips and wife Nanette of Barryville, NY; niece Margot Schips of Starksboro, VT; great nieces; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Frank Schips Jr.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 9, in Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis, with The Rev. Robert D. Cassidy officiating. Burial was at Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown.

ROBERT HERMAN STABBERT
Robert Herman Stabbert of Miami, FL died on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 following a short illness. He was 72.
Bob was born on August 11, 1937 to the late Fred W. and Nellie Stabbert Sr. of Callicoon, NY.
Bob served his country in the United States Navy and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. He then worked as a computer programmer for some of the biggest insurance companies in New York City. He lived in Holland for many years, where he raised his two children, Bambi and Clifford.
Bob enjoyed Broadway shows, New York City entertainment, watching classic movies as well as reading and writing poetry.One of his last poems was: Through a window in the sky/ I saw the great clouds rolling by/ Like Saints on snowy steeds arrayed/ For some celestial parade.
Bob is survived by his children Bambi Stabbert of Holland and Clifford Stabbert of Miami; sister Anne Foland of Middletown, NY; sister-in-law Shirley Stabbert of Callicoon; and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Fred Stabbert Jr. of Callicoon and Edwin Stabbert.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, September 19 in Miami during which his ashes will be spread in memoriam.
A later memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in New York City.
