Don’t feed the ducks

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Jeffersonville will be all decked out for Jeff Fest on Saturday, September 19.

One of the day’s highlights will be Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan’s (Jems’) duck race, sporting over 1,000 yellow, blue and pink plastic contestants. The ducks will swim from the Millpond to the Schadt Memorial Bridge. The race will start at 1:00 p.m. and last about 12 minutes, and proceeds will benefit community improvements supported by the Jems Sullivan Renaissance group.

The first-place winner will receive $300, second place $200, third place $100 and the last three “pokey ducks” will receive gift certificates to Specially U Salon, C&M Kennel and Kelly’s Kones. Daisy Duck is returning and will be waddling around Jeffersonville for free photo opportunities.

Tickets to buy ducks may be purchased at Specially U Beauty Salon (845/482-4033), Magnifique Salon (482-3888), C&M Kennel (482-5995), Echo Letterpress (482-4900) and Jack and Doris Costello (482-3731), Fran Justus (482-4815) and Deb Thony (482-4151). On Saturday, last-minute tickets will be available at the gazebo.
