Garden club holds hypertufa workshop
NARROWSBURG, NY The Narrowsburg Garden Club will host a hypertufa workshop at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20. It will be presented by Betty Crandall at the Crandall residence on Aspen Way in Narrowsburg.
Hypertufa is a lightweight cement product that can be formed into any shape of planter that you can imagine, such as a trough for herbs or a tall planter for bonsai. It can then be colored using cement dyes or paint, or decorated with stones and moss.
It is suggested that attendees wear old work clothes as the class will be working in a garage. Bring a cardboard box, plastic tub, Styrofoam cooler or other container that is the size and shape of the hypertufa planter that you wish to make. The materials fee will be $5 per person.
To get to the workshop, drive on Route 97 for three miles south of the hamlet of Narrowsburg and make a right on Arena Court. Drive 100 feet and make a right on Wood Oak Drive, and continue on that paved road for three quarters of a mile. Make a left onto Aspen Way, a gravel road, where the Crandall residence is the only house.
