Dramatic Workshop presents ‘Agnes of God’

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY—The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop continues its 2009 season with John Pielmeier’s powerful drama, “Agnes of God,” premiering on Friday, September 11. The play will continue on Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13 and continue on Friday through Sunday, September 25 to 27. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.

The play was written in 1978, based upon a true story that happened outside of Rochester. It opened on Broadway in 1982 and was later adapted for film. At the opening of the drama, Sister Agnes (Marissa Cohen of Ellenville) is brought to court psychiatrist Dr. Martha Livingstone (Evelyn Albino of New Hampton), who will determine whether she is sane.

Malone brings ‘pulsating, roaring keyboard’ to Tusten stage

NARROWSBURG, NY—Riverfolk concerts will present Bob Malone on Friday, September 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the Tusten Theatre.

Los Angeles-based Malone plays over 100 shows a year all over the world, and he has opened for and/or played with Rickie Lee Jones, The Neville Brothers, Rev. Al Green, Boz Scaggs, Vonda Shepard, Arlo Guthrie and many others. He was featured as a “One to Watch” artist on NPR’s Acoustic Café.

Marathon softball game to mark Smoky Joe Wood celebration

MILFORD, PA—The Pike County Historical Society will celebrate Joe’s Day on September 12, with a softball game, home run derby and a day filled with fun at the Little League Field in Milford, starting at 10:00 a.m. A marathon softball game will take place with players from all over welcome to join in, male or female, young or old.

In 1977, the Pike County Commissioners declared October 25, Wood’s birthday, Smoky Joe Wood Day. In the past, the weather in October has been uncooperative, so, this year the society decided to celebrate early.
