‘Outside Looking In’

NARROWSBURG, NY — River Gallery - The Art of Living will open a show by primitive expressionist David Tinsley, one of whose works is shown here, with an artists’ reception on Saturday, August 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The self-taught Tinsley wrote, “All images develop during the painting process and the ‘scarred’ surface of the finished painting shows this. The paintings are obsessive in nature and deal with feelings and thoughts I have during the process.” As tools Tinsley uses mostly fingers and an ice-pick, with brushes used sparingly. Most are acrylic on half-inch MDO board, about 16 inches square, with glossy surfaces of museum-quality varnish, framed with painted slats and ready to hang.
