Forestburgh Day Fair features carnival games, barbeque, hydro tour

FORESTBURGH, NY — Foresburgh will hold its fourth Forestburgh Day Fair on Saturday, August 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the firehouse on Route 42. Admission is free.

This year’s fair will be the biggest so far, with the addition of Alliance Energy Hydro Plant tours (see how green energy is made) and free children’s carnival games and bounce house.

The day will start off at Lake Joseph at 8:30 with a 5K race that benefits Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties. The plant tour starts at 10:00 a.m. From 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m., bring your children for carnival games with prizes, bounce house, free popcorn and cotton candy. At 1:00 p.m., Sullivan County Historian John Conway will give a talk on trains and railways in Forestburgh and surrounding areas. There will be more than 30 vendors with handcrafted items and art throughout the day.

At 3:00 p.m., the Swing Shift Orchestra will provide live music while the fire company’s popular chicken barbeque gets underway until 6:00 p.m. The barbeque costs $10 for adults, $5 for children four to 12 and free for children under four.

Pre-registration is requested for the hydro tour, and reservations are suggested for barbeque tickets. For more information call 845/794-0611, ext. 12.
