Sparrowbush house concert features old-time folk duo

SPARROWBUSH, NY — Tom Akstens and Neil Rossi will perform at a house concert to be held at 594 Route 97 on Sunday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m.

Aksten and Rossi are multi-instrumentalists, singers and songwriters who have explored the nooks and crannies of old-time country music, country blues and honky-tonk. Their most recent album, “Scoundrels, Trains and Tragic Romance,” is a celebration of the American roots music they’ve been playing together for almost five decades.

“Two wonderful musicians and singers…. Impeccable musicianship. Their enthusiastic audiences are having a great time,” wrote Mark Sustic of the Burlington Free Press, and the Midwest Record Review said, “It might look and sound laid-back, but these are real pros. Don’t let the gray hair fool you…. Killer stuff that will simply lay you out.”

The concert is sponsored by the Folk Music Society of New York, Inc. and will take place at the home of John Ziv and Deborah Rubin.
