SCDW announces auditions for ‘Children’s Hour’

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop will be holding auditions for Lillian Hellman’s “The Children’s Hour” on Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Rivoli Theatre at 437 Route 42.

The work is a serious and adult play about two women who run a school for girls. After a malicious youngster starts a rumor about the two women, the rumor soon turns to scandal. As the young girl comes to understand the power she wields, she sticks by her story, which precipitates tragedy for the women. It is later discovered that the gossip was pure invention, but it is too late?

Needed are two women who can play 30s, one man who can play 30s, one woman 30s-plus, one woman who can play 50 to 60 (eccentric), one woman who can play 60-plus and five girls who can play ages 10 to 13.

Performances are scheduled for October 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25 at the Sullivan County Museum in Hurleyville.
