From sunset concerts to outreach, Shandelee is back
SHANDELEE, NY The Shandelee Music Festival Sunset Concert Series is under way, with the next performance being An Evening of Chamber Music on Thursday, August 6 at 8:00 p.m. featuring Natalia Khoma on the cello, Alexandre Brussilovsky on the violin and Volodymyr Vynnytsky on the piano. The series is held at the concert pavilion on the festival grounds on J. Young Road.
On Saturday, August 8 at 8:00 p.m., Julien Quentin, who has been praised for absolute mastery of the keyboard by György Sándor and described as intelligent and sensitive by Classic FM, will give a solo piano performance.
On Thursday, August 13 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 15 at 3:00 p.m. the International Artists Of Shandelee, young solo pianists chosen especially for this festival, will perform. The students are Kevin Lee (age 14, from New Jersey), Lior Willinger (age 16, from Florida), Doris Lee (age 17, from New Jersey), JooHyun Lee (age 19, from South Korea), Nathan Green (age 20, from Nebraska), Matthew Palumbo (age 20, from Washington State), Esther Keel (age 23, from New York City), Yoon Soon Rhee (age 26, from South Korea/Germany) and Yunjie Chen (age 29 from China).
All Sunset Concerts are followed by specialty dessert and meet-the-artist receptions.
Regular tickets cost $25; tickets for seniors and students cost $23. For more information call 845/439-3277.
The International Artists will also perform at the Catskill Arts Society (CAS) Arts Center at 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. performance and 7:45 p.m. for the 8:00 p.m. performance. Admission for CAS members costs $10 for one concert and $15 for both. Admission for non-CAS members costs $15 for one concert, $20 for both. Each concert will be followed by a complimentary champagne reception.
There will also be two community outreach concerts. The first will take place on Friday, August 7 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. The second will take place on Tuesday, August 11 at the Sullivan County Recovery Center in Monticello a new venue for the festivals outreach programs.
