JANE AUDREY LITTS

Jane Audrey Litts of Matamoras, PA, passed away on Wednesday July 22, 2009 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was 90.

She was born February 2, 1919 in Susquehanna, PA, the daughter of the late Edward and Lena Banks Murch. Jane married Robert Charles Litts, who predeceased her.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Matamoras, member of the United Methodist Woman and Wonder Workers of the Church, member and past matron of Pocono Chapter #46, O.E.S. and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Port Jervis Salvation Army.

A family statement reads: “Mom was devoted to her children and family, including her little beagle, Penny.”

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Farr of Matamoras, PA and Susan Kozykowski and husband, Bernard of Barryville, NY; son Richard A. Litts and wife Jeanette of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren Lori Keller, Robin Thompson, Joseph Hoegger III, Tammy Farr, Bernard Kozykowski Jr., Karen Kozykowski, Jessica and Andrew Litts, Kristin Litts-Reittenger, Robert Litts, Sandi Clark, Carrie Babylon and Joseph Monaco Jr.; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law Barbara Litts and son-in-law Joseph Monaco.

She was predeceased by son Robert Litts; daughter Joan Monaco; great-granddaughter Laura Reitschmied; son-in-law Richard Farr; and four sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis with The Rev. Thomas Major officiating. Interment took place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.


HARRY L. TRAVIS SR

Harry L. Travis Sr. of Dingman Twp., PA died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Twin Cedars Assisted Living Center, Shohola, PA. He was 89.

Mr. Travis retired from Picatinny Arsenal as an electrician.

Mr. Travis was born on the family farm in Dingman Twp. on March 30, 1920 to the late Charles E. and Ella E. (Greening) Travis. He was the widower of Edith (Appley) Travis who died on July 10, 1992.

Mr. Travis served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of the Mt. Laurel Post #8612 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Milford, PA and both the Matamoras, PA and Milford senior clubs.

He leaves behind his sons, Harry L. Travis Jr. of Milford and Kenneth L. Travis of Shohola; daughter Debbie Drake of Montague, NJ; grandchildren Harry III, Scott, Dean, Clint, Jessica, Stephanie and Elizabeth; and four great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 19 at the Stroyan Funeral Home, Milford, with the Rev. David Repenning officiating. Burial followed in the Travis McKean Cemetery, Dingman Township.


DOROTHY S. TURNER

Dorothy S. Turner of Bethany PA, died Saturday, July 11, 2009 in Bethany Village, Bethany. She was 86.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Turner, who died in 2002.

Dorothy was born in Tyler Hill, PA, the daughter of the late Fred and Margaret Loy Seipp.

She graduated from Damascus High School and Mansfield State College. Dorothy taught social studies for 32 years in Damascus and Honesdale high schools. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale, serving on its board of trustees for 15 years; and active in the United Methodist Women. Dorothy was a life member of local, state, and national branches of Retired Teachers organizations, a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma; and trustee and treasurer of the Minor Memorial Fund which provides support for the Wayne County Library.

She is survived by nephews Ronald and Reginald Seipp of Tyler Hill; niece Barbara Pingel of Beach Lake, PA; two grandnieces and nephews; several great-grandnieces and nephews; cousins and friends; and good friend and sister-in-law Ruth Turner of Damascus, PA.

She was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Donald Seipp; baby brother Byron; and nephew James Seipp.

A graveside service was held on Monday, July 20 in the Hillside Cemetery, Damascus with Rev. Jean Blackie officiating.

FREDERICK JOHN WEBER

Frederick John Weber of Avon Park, FL, formerly of Yulan, NY, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009 at the Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, FL. He was 78.

He was born on November 21, 1930 in Yulan, the son of the late John and Eva Kalin Weber. He married Dorothy Brodmerkel on October 18, 1953.

Fred worked as a carpenter/equipment operator and then retired as a conductor from Conrail Railroad. Fred continued working as a self-employed building contractor. Fred was a graduate of the Eldred Central School. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Yulan Fire Department.

A family statement reads: “Fred, above all, took great pride in his family, had a strong passion and love for his pets, wildlife and the New York Mets.”

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Brodmerkel Weber of Avon Park; son Frederick W. Weber and wife, MaryEllen of Holtsville, NY; daughters Susan Weber of Pond Eddy, NY, Teresa Klinetob and husband John of Beverly, MA and Lisa Tobin and husband John of Middletown, NY; grandchildren Jennifer Cohen and husband Ilan, Eric Weber and wife Jamie-Lee, Megan and Kristen Klinetob, John IV and Brittany Tobin; great granddaughter-to-be, Kyleigh Weber; sisters Virginia McBride of Montana, Jeanette Kennedy of Pennsylvania and Christine Thompson and husband William of Yulan; brothers David Weber and wife Marie of Yulan and Roger Weber and wife Ruth of Binghamton, NY; brother-in-law, Edward O’Connell of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sisters Betty Marie Weber and Gail O’Connell.

Friends may visit Thursday, July 16, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 17 at the Eldred United Methodist Church, Eldred, NY with Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Interment followed with military honors at Montoza Cemetery, Eldred.

EARLE A. WILDE

Earle A. Wilde of Jeffersonville, NY, passed away on July 15, 2009 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty, NY. He was 81.

The son of the late Albert and Bertha Mae Waterbury Wilde, he was born on March 8, 1928 in Sullivan Township, Madison County, NY.

In 1950 he received his B.S., followed by his M.S. in 1960, from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a Cornell Co-operative Extension Agricultural Agent working in St. Lawrence, Rensselaer, Otsego and Sullivan counties from 1953 to 1983. Earle was a member of the National Association of County Agriculture Agents, Epsilon Sigma Phi, a 50-year member of Otsego Masonic Lodge 138 Free & Accepted Masons, a 50-year member of J.C. Young Hose Company of Liberty, First National Bank of Jeffersonville director from 1980 to his passing, and an elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Liberty.

Earle had a great love of gardening and raised gladiolas that he shared and harvested food for his family and friends. Earle’s interest in others and his indomitable spirit of service to the Lord brought him many friends. His favorite comment was: “Every day is a good day, some are just better than others.” He was “Chief Chef” of the chicken barbeque for the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Elizabeth Lightfoot Wilde; step-daughters Katherine Barnhart and husband David Jalanti, of Hudson, NY and Ruth Schussler and husband Raymond of Auburn, NY; daughter-in-law Cathy J. Barnhart and family of Craig, CO; grandchildren David Barnhart of Craig, Mary Barnhart Brent of Phoenix, AZ, Jason Schussler of Chesapeake, VA, Kristen Schussler of Richmond, VA, Stephen Jalanti of Albany, NY and Matthew Jalanti of Hudson; brother, Robert Wilde of Oneida, NY; and many nieces and nephews including Fred Bach with whom he shared many interests.

Earle is predeceased by brother Herbert Wilde; sisters Annie Wilde Bach and Harriet Wilde Loucks; and stepson James Barnhart.

Firematic and Masonic services were held on Saturday, July 18 at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, Liberty, NY. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 19 at the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty, Liberty, NY with the Rev. Jay Wallace officiating.

NORMA JUNE YONCHIK

Norma June Yonchik of Hortonville, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Catskill Regional Medical Center after a short illness. She was 85.

Born in Santa Ann, CA, July 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Al and Mattie Wright.

She is survived by her spouse Paul F. Yonchik Sr. at home; daughter Zoanne Deckelman and her husband Charles of Obernburg, NY; son James Yonchik of Downey, CA; grandson Bill Deckelman of Obernburg; granddaughter, Sandra Deckelman-Davis of Swan Lake, NY; four great grand children as well as several out-of-state grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her three siblings, Al, Stanley, and Pauline; her daughter, Virginia Grey; and her son, Paul F. Yonchik Jr.

A Christian Mass in celebration of her life was held on July 19, at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon. Burial will be at the family’s convenience.
