Liberty Rail Trail building day

LIBERTY, NY — On Sunday, August 2 a group of volunteers will be revitalizing the Liberty Rail Trail. They will be cutting back some growth, defining a new entry/exit, installing benches, installing flower planters, new signs, moving out brush and more.

Anyone interested is invited to bring a shovel, rake, clippers, or whatever you think might help. Snacks and bottled water are also welcome.

The group will meet at the Carrier Street entrance/exit to the trail in the Village of Liberty at the intersection of Upper Ferndale Road and Carrier Street. The building session starts at 10:00 a.m. and will continue throughout the day.

The Liberty Rail Trail is part of the former O&W Rail Bed that runs through the Village of Liberty. Over the past two years, LibertyBikeTrail.org and the Liberty Community Development Corporation have been working on revitalizing the trail. Today the trail offers three miles of hiking and biking.
