JOHN H. BESSETTE III
John H. Bessette III of Barryville, NY passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009. He was 52.
John was born in Manhattan on August 17, 1956. He was a mason with the BAC Union, Local 4 and he attended St. Anns R.C. Church in Shohola, PA.
Survivors include his father, John Cirelli; sister Mary Bessette and Charlie Ranne; brother Tom Bessette and wife Ann Marie; four children, Brian, Eric, Alison and Tom; two grandchildren, sister Catherine Murdock and daughter Cheyanne; sister Robyn Hasckhe and husband Frank.
A memorial service will be held at St. Anns R.C. Church on Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Thomas Major officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a future date.

SYLVIA M. LAUER LOUX DEWEY
Sylvia M. Lauer Loux Dewey of Glen Spey, NY and Leesburg, FL, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, FL. She was 86.
She was born September 15, 1922 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Paul J. and Grace Donnelly Lauer. Mrs. Dewey was also predeceased by her late husband, Arthur Francis Frank Loux, whom she married on November 10, 1940. She married Regis F. Dewey, who survives, on November 17, 1979.
Sylvia was a member of the United Methodist Church in Matamoras, PA. She owned and operated Lauer Glass Company in Matamoras and was one of the first PA Motor Vehicle agents. She was a former member of the Matamoras Planning Board and a long-term member and office holder of the Council of Republican Women in Pike and Wayne counties. Sylvia was a former Republican Committee Woman in Wayne County and was a former Wayne County Republican Chairwoman. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1950 and held many offices in the organization.
A family statement reads: She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who was full of life. We are thankful and honored to have been part of her family and she will truly be missed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter Patricia A. Aber and husband Irving of Hudson, FL; sons Arthur F. Loux and wife Kathleen of Stilwell, KS and Richard J. Loux of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren Debora S. Howey, Donna L. Uram, Veronica L. Loux, Paul T. Loux, Amanda G. Loux, Jennifer R. Loux and Lauren M. Ryon; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers Elwood and John Lauer; and sister Grace Farrell.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 11 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, Port Jervis, NY with Rev. Lora Villinger officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.

JOSEPH M. HANLEY
Joseph M. Hanley of Smallwood, NY, a longtime area resident, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at his home. He was 57.
The son of the late Joseph and Frances Rossiter Hanley, he was born on August 14, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY.
Joseph was the owner of ProLine Cleaners of Smallwood and was a member of the Eldred Hunting Club in Smallwood.
He is survived by his wife Sondra Hanley at home; sons James Greco and wife Christine of Lindenhurst, NY and Ryan Hanley of Smallwood; daughters Kerri Cozzolino and husband Joseph of White Sulphur Springs, NY and Jessica Mantia and husband Joseph of Florida; brothers Eugene Hanley and wife Rita of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Kevin Hanley and wife Monique of Patchogue, NY; and 10 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held on July 12 at Ramsays Funeral Home, Kauneonga Lake, NY.
MARILYN CHICKIE KENNY
Marilyn Chickie Kenny, a resident of Jackson Heights, NY and Rockland County, NY, passed away on July 7, 2009. She was 79.
She was born in New York City on September 19, 1930 to Patrick and Marion McInery.
She was the wife of the late James; sister to Michael Kern of Tarpon Springs, FL and Thomas Kern of Queens, NY and Callicoon, NY; beloved niece of the late Harry and Winnie Adams of Queens, NY, and River Road, Callicoon; beloved aunt and cousin to many.
A Mass was held at St. Joan of Arc Church, Jackson Heights, NY, on July 10, 2009.
ADELINE B. LENNON
Adeline B. Lennon of Greentown, PA died Friday, July 10, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was 98.
Born June 1, 1911 in Dunmore, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Ursula (Gutowska) Cykosky. She moved with her family to Greentown in 1916.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Martin Lennon, in 1982. Together they had owned and managed Hemlock Point Cottages and Hemlock Point Development.
Mrs. Lennon was past president of St. Marys Ledgedale Altar and Rosary Society and past president of American Legion Auxiliary DeGroat-Hazer Post. A member of St. Veronicas Roman Catholic Church, she provided flowers for the altar from her flower garden for over 40 years and hosted prayer group meetings in her home.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Grover White and Bernadine Lennon and Jon Tandy, all of Greentown; sister Genevieve Cykosky of Greentown; granddaughters Maureen Dewey and husband Thomas of Shohola, PA, Debbie Hussung and husband Sam, of Lake Ariel, PA and Michelle Maddox of Greentown; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings, Constance Marhefka, Pearl Cykosky, Antoinette Jadczak, John, Anthony, Edward and Joseph Cykosky.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Veronicas Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 15 by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor. Burial was in B.V.M. Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley.

JOSEPH M. LYNCH
Joseph M. Lynch, 86, of Secaucus, NJ and Bethel, NY, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009.
Mr. Lynch was a Hudson County engineer, planner and surveyor who founded Mayo Lynch & Associates in 1953. His career included service on many well known municipal and city projects in New Jersey and New York. He was instrumental in initiating the Federal Model Cities Grant for Hoboken, NJ. An organizer and chairman for PNC, he received many awards for banking and engineering accomplishments, recently the 2008 Tau Beta Pi Eminent Engineer Award for lifetime excellence. He was on the editorial advisory board of the Encyclopedia of Environmental Science and Engineering.
Joseph was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received medals for his service, most recently the Hudson County Distinguished Service medal in 2008. He was a member of the VFW and Knights of Columbus.
He is the husband of Anna Marie (nee Lewandoski) Lynch; father of Joan Lynch, Laurie and Seamus Cunningham, Peter and Cheryl Lynch, Joseph and Jane Lynch, Anna Lynch MD and Grace Lynch and John Curry; grandfather of Seamus Cunningham, Anna Cocuzzo, Tara Kreder, Chris Cunningham, Julie ODonnell, Jamie, Jill and Patrick, Joseph and Sean Lynch, Josephine and the late John Curry; great-grandfather of nine; brother of Robert and the late James and John Lynch.
Funeral services were held at Riotto Funeral Home, Jersey City, NJ on July 13 followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, NJ. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington, NJ.

HECTOR AMADO MIQUELI JR
Hector Amado Miqueli Jr. of White Lake, NY passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at his home. He was 24.
He was born on December 26, 1984 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Hector and Rita Cintron Miqueli Jr.
He was a cook at Bubbas BBQ in White Lake. Called Chef and Big Hec, he will be sorely missed by his friends and co-workers.
He is survived by his son Anthony, at home with his mother, Jennifer Brock, in Roscoe, NY; his aunt and uncle/surrogate parents Yvette Rivera and Allie Kleingardner of Livingston Manor, NY; and cousins Michelle Diaz and daughter Mariah Westbrook of Livingston Manor, Michael Diaz, serving in the U.S. Army and his son Jonathan, and Scott and Sean Kleingardner of Livingston Manor; uncles Justo Rivera, Arturo Cintron, and Antoline Rivera all of Florida, and Luis Miqueli of North Bergen, NJ; and several cousins.
Hector was predeceased by his parents, Hector and Rita Miqueli; grandparents Luis and Dulce Miqueli, Fox Cintron and James and Angel Senk; and uncle Fernando Rivera.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 13 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, Livingston Manor.
JEAN (BACHELDER) FARR TIPPENS
Jean (Bachelder) Farr Tippens, formerly of Sparrowbush, NY, passed away on July 3, 2009 at the James River Convalescent Center, Newport News, VA. She was 86.
She was born March 23, 1923 in Port Jervis, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Pearl Jones Bachelder. Jean married George C. Farr, who predeceased her, and then married Charles Brad Tippens, who also predeceased her.
Jean attended the Deerpark Reformed Church in Port Jervis, and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Tri-State Naval Ship, #7241.
Survivors include daughters Nita Farr Taylor and husband Bernard of Newport News, VA and Charlene Flieger and husband, Charles of Sparrowbush; son Hollis G. Farr of Westbrookville, NY; brother Douglas Bachelder of Port Jervis, NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Harry Bachelder.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush.
