The drilling rig at the Robson Well in Oregon Township in Wayne County, PA buckled on July 3, slightly injuring one employee. Brian Grove, director of corporate development for Chesapeake Appalachia, the company running the drilling operation, said there were no spills of any kind in relation to the incident and the cause is being investigated.

NWPOA to sign gas lease

WAYNE COUNTY, PA—The moment that 1,000 Wayne County property owners have been waiting for appears to have arrived. According to its website, the Northern Wayne Property Owners Alliance (NWPOA) has navigated a lengthy negotiation process with various natural gas extraction companies and is now focused on finalizing an offer from Hess Corporation.

At a July 1 meeting of the NWPOA steering committee, “a comparison of the offers” for NWPOA’s consideration was discussed at length. “The leases were compared section by section and item by item. Terms (bonus money and royalty) were compared carefully. In the end, it came down to the value of the entire package,” notes a post on the site.

MONTICELLO, NY—Sullivan County lawmakers voted to send a message to Albany saying, “Don’t touch our money.” The concern is that Governor David Paterson will change the way the state’s off-track betting (OTB) system is operated in an attempt to bail out OTB in New York City and elsewhere.

Concord project inching slowly forward

State senate could be stumbling block

MONTICELLO, NY - Despite the battered economy and tough lending environment, financing for the massive project at the former Concord Hotel site is now lined up. That word came from Henry Zabatta, general manager of the Concord Resort and Golf Club, who spoke to the Sullivan County Legislature on July 2 at the government center.

He said that the site plan is complete and that developer Louis Cappelli has been granted a building permit for final construction by the Town of Thompson.
