Central Park concerts feature Young Geezers

HONESDALE, PA — The Young Geezers will appear as part of the Wayne County Creative Arts Council’s concerts in Central Park series for the first time on Monday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m.

The Young Geezers are three good friends who enjoy the musical synergy of blending acoustic instruments with three-part harmonies, offering a repertoire that covers a fair spectrum of folk and bluegrass traditions.

Rap Parsons is an accomplished guitar and mandolin player who also plays the dobro and banjo. He is also a professor in the Foreign Languages Department at the University of Scranton. Tony Kearney is a talented and long-time folksinger who plays both guitar and mandolin, When not making music, he applies his talents as a social worker. Dan Townsend has been playing guitar since college, and has long enjoyed many kinds of music, including folk and bluegrass. He is a professor in the Biology Department at the University of Scranton. The trio’s web page is young-geezers.com.

In the event that the Independence Day celebration is postponed from July 3, the entire Independence Day program will take place on July 6 instead of the Young Geezers.

Refreshments will be available. The concerts are free, but a free will offering will be taken. In case of rain, the venue will be moved to the Episcopal Parish House adjacent to the park.
