Honesdale gets a mid-week farmers’ market

HONESDALE, PA — Three local farmers who grow all their vegetables using natural organic practices will launch a mid-week farmers’ market in Honesdale. The outdoor market will be open every Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. beginning June 24 at 1030 Main Street, between Tenth and Eleventh Streets.

Sky Ballentine of The Ant Hill Farm and Roger Hill of Treeline Farms, both in Dyberry Township, as well as Brian Fox of Salem Mountain Natural Vegetable Farm in South Canaan Township, will sell their produce. All three farmers also are vendors at the Wayne County Farmers’ Market, which is held trackside behind the Wayne County Visitors Center, 32 Commercial Street on Saturday mornings.

Produce for sale on opening day will include spring lettuces, spinach, radishes, spring onions, garlic scapes, peas and spring greens such as mustard greens, beet greens, red Russian kale and tat soi. Hill will also offer free-range eggs for sale.
