Cube competition benefits Safe Haven
MILFORD, PA The World Cube Association (WCA) and Safe Haven will hold a Rubiks Cube Competition on June 20 at the Delaware Valley High School. The doors will open at 9:00 a.m., and there will be a concluding awards ceremony beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Cubing wizards will solve the various cube puzzles such as Magic/Master Magic, Rubiks Cube, 4X4X4, Square-1, 3X3X3 One-Handed and 3X3X3 Blindfold. The competition will include everything from straight cubing to blindfold speed solving.
Financial sponsorship from Safe Havens Cindy Stine and LNS Financial Services will help cover overhead costs, and toy maker Techno Source and SeriousPuzzles.com have donated merchandise to be used as auction items, giveaways and prizes.
The Muir House has offered to donate food to be sold during the competition, along with many Safe Haven volunteer baked goodies. Chef Seth from the Muir House has also gotten into the action by getting T-Shirts made up to be sold.
All funds raised by this competition will be donated to Safe Haven. There will be raffles, food and record-breaking entertainment.
Pre-registration costs $5 for the first event plus $2 for each additional event. Participants can register at speedcubing.us/safehaven2009. At the event, the registration fee will be $10 for the first event plus $3 for each additional event. Spectators are admitted free.
