Liberty Art Walk comes to town

LIBERTY, NY — Plans to kick off the Liberty Art Walk, a decidedly artistic face-lift along Liberty’s Main Street and one of its busier thoroughfares, are now underway. The Liberty Community Development Corporation’s (CDC) Downtown Committee seeks area artists interested in displaying and promoting their work in the large windows of several vacant storefronts along both Main Street and Chestnut Street in the heart of the business district.

Painters, photographers, sculptors, ceramicists, weavers and all visual artists are invited to submit work to display and promote. Art works, prominently displayed, improve the visual landscape of Liberty’s business district and generate greater foot traffic for the benefit of the artists and area businesses alike.

“There is an incredible amount of talent here in the Catskill region,” noted Allen Wright, the CDC’s coordinator for this project. “Making beautiful works of art available in such a public way is great for the artists and area businesses. And, it’s also good for local residents. It speaks to an improving quality of life and goes a long way toward rebuilding a community’s identity and spirit.”

The CDC will also promote participating artists on its website: www.liberty-cdc.org.

Interested parties should email photos of their work to info@liberty-cdc.org.
