Historical society screens free films

HURLEYVILLE, NY — The Sullivan County Historical Society will present free history-themed movies in honor of the bicentennial at the Sullivan County Museum on Main Street on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. this summer. Titles shown will be “The Red Badge of Courage” (June 27), “Enemy” (July 13), “The Rise & Fall of The Borscht Belt” (July 20), “Walk on The Moon’’ (August 3), “Woodstock Remembers’’ (August 10) and “Sweet Lorraine” (August 24). There will be a special showing of “Dirty Dancing” on Sunday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m., with guest Jackie Horner. The movie was based on Horner’s experiences as a dance teacher at Grossinger’s during the glory days of the Borscht Belt.
