Culinary comedy opens June 5

LAKEVILLE, PA — The Lakeside Players will present “The Kitchen Witches,” a comedy by Caroline Smith, on Friday, June 5 at Lakeville Community Hall. Performances will continue on June 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 3:00 p.m.

The show stars Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle, two cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years, ever since Stephen Biddle dated one and married the other. When circumstances put the women together on a TV show called The Kitchen Witches, it’s a recipe for comedic chaos. Dolly’s long-suffering TV-producer daughter tries to keep them on track, but as long as Dolly’s dressing room is one inch closer to the set than Isobel’s, it’s a losing battle. Dolly and Isobel’s on-air antics make the the ratings go through the roof .

“The Kitchen Witches” stars Roxan Schwartz as Dolly Biddle, Diane Altmann as Isobel Lomax, Kelly Ann Walsh as Stephanie Biddle, and Tony Schwartz as Ron. Roxan Schwartz is directing.

Founded in 1999, The Lakeside Players have been performing every spring and fall at Lakeville Community Hall for nine years. They also perform full-length plays and audience participation murder mysteries at area restaurants and banquet facilities, including Ehrhardt’s Waterfront on Lake Wallenpaupack.

Tickets for “The Kitchen Witches” are available at the door, or you can make reservations by calling 570/226-6207. All tickets cost $12, with a $2 discount/person for groups of 10 or more.
