Free chamber music on the grounds of Grey Towers
MILFORD, PA A free string quartet performance by the Black Bear Conservatory of Music (BBCM), featuring works of the classical masters inspired by nature, is planned for Saturday, June 6, at 5:30 p.m., at Grey Towers National Historic Site. Co-sponsored by the Grey Towers Heritage Association and the U.S. Forest Service, the program is scheduled as part of the Milford Music Festival. It will be held outdoors under a tent.
Headed by BBCMs Robert Murphy, the Renegade Quartet will present music that was inspired by the excitement of the seasons and the beauty of nature, featuring pieces by Mozart and Haydn, the famous Frog and Spring quartets.
Grey Towers, ancestral home of the Pinchot family, has a long-standing tradition of combining the arts and nature. Grey Towers, home of the Pinchot family, itself inspired first James Pinchot and then his son Gifford to become the eminent conservationists of their time. The U.S. Forest Service partners with many organizations to continue this legacy with the Conservation and the Arts program, which includes music, literary programs, dramatic readings, landscape painting and other artistic endeavors.
The Black Bear Conservatory of Music is a non-profit, community-based institution dedicated to excellence in music education. Each week, the conservatory invites students and award-wining faculty from three states to its downtown Hawley location.
