Editor's pick: The Arts, Crafts & Antiques weekend hits the streets of Honesdale

HONESDALE, PA This Saturday and Sunday, the streets of downtown Honesdale will be set a-bustle with the Arts, Crafts & Antiques weekendNorth End Craft Fair, sponsored by the Dime Bank.
Craft vendors will line Main Street at the north end. The Wayne County Arts Alliances 2009 project SeatWavesa collection of colorful and artistically designed seatswill make its debut in Central Park on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In addition, visitors will be able to view artwork created by Honesdale school students in many of Honesdales Main Street business windows, and artwork from the Wayne County Correctional Facility can be seen displayed at 607 Main Street. At the newly expanded and renovated Wayne County Historical Society, visitors can see a full-scale replica of the famous Stourbridge Lion, the first locomotive to run on a track in America, and view a large selection of photographs from the past.
On Saturday, there will be demonstrations of dance styles from Middle Eastern to tap and ballet under the Fred Miller Pavilion, and a DJ will play some tunes from the 50s as the Park & Shop lot begins to fill up with antique cars for the first Car Cruize of the season. The fourth annual Antiques on Wheels Parade will take place on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., when there will also be a Circus Yoga workshop, more dancing demonstrations and a display of homemade quilts.
Visitors can get their own antiques appraised at Honesdales Antiques Road Show, held in the garden at The Cottage, located at the corner of 7th and Church Streets. Bring your valuables from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and let certified antique appraiser Darlene Moran tell you what they are worth. The charge is $5 per item, limit two items per person; no jewelry.
