SWAN LAKE, NY—Justin Armstrong knows the time is now and he’s ready to give it his best shot. With his senior season winding down and hopes for not only making states again, but doing well there, Armstrong looks forward to finishing up his high school career on a dramatic note.

SWAN LAKE, NY—Talk about notions that are now considered passé, how about the idea epitomized by the famous 1991 James Brown song, “This is a Man’s World.”

As the world of horse racing adjusts to the shock of filly Rachel Alexandra winning over a field of male counterparts in the Preakness on May 16, area golfers are still trying to absorb the fact that Sullivan West’s Melanie Kleiner became the first female since 2002 to qualify for the Section Nine Boys Golf Championships, a feat last accomplished by Storm King’s Jen Hudson.

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—In the tense and defining moments of a key game, what a team needs most is the stalwart, experienced leadership of players who can bear down and find a way to win.

Sullivan West’s Logan Grishaber fits that description to a tee.

For years on end, this writer has been watching the southpaw grit his way through little league games, teeners championship tilts and varsity clashes. Some of those spellbinders ended in glorious wins, others in heart-rending defeats.
