Chalk Walk brightens Jeff sidewalks

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Artists converged in Jeffersonville on May 16, to take their work literally to the streets in a Sullivan County Bicentennial event marking the 200th anniversary of the county. This year, of course, also marks the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock concert, which is reflected in the above work.

It is being created by Jessica Hall, the art teacher at Livingston Manor High School, on the right, and one of her students, Samantha Davis.

Jeffersonville Mayor Ed Justus said there were about half a dozen artworks that really stood out, including this one, which appeared in front of Michelangelo’s Restaurant on Main St.

Justus said the three-day event kept a steady stream of visitors coming into the town, and the fireworks on Friday night were especially well attended.
