LIBERTY, NY This year being the Sullivan County Bicentennial, many local organizations are using the opportunity to take a closer look atand celebratethe amenities in our own backyard. Catskill Artists Gallery in Liberty is one such organization, as it opens the 2009 summer season with Catskill Impressions, an unjuried exhibit of artwork depicting a variety of perspectives on the many different aspects of the Catskill area.
Work was received from many local artists, not just the members and consignors of the gallery, aiming to celebrate the Catskill area in all its beauty, quirkiness and character. Exhibitors were invited to enter anything that expresses our area, from bucolic scenes to the borscht belt.
Members of the gallery are Robert Friedman, Cate Gundlah, Kathy Jeffers, Buff McAllister and Hank Schneider. The gallery also represents nearly 40 other consignment artists, and has a variety of artwork and crafts created by local artisans for sale, including painting, prints, photographs, fabric art, sculpture, woodwork, pottery, glass work, jewelry, books, note cards and more.
Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.
