Spring bird walk

MILANVILLE, PA — Peter Wulfhorst, an expert birder and member of the Gifford Pinchot Audubon Society, will lead a bird walk through meadow, riverside and forest habitats on Saturday, May 23 starting at 7:00 a.m. The walk, sponsored by the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, will begin at their Butterfly Barn meadow on River Road between the Skinners Falls and Narrowsburg bridges.

Wulfhorst will help identify birds by sight and sound. This time of year we may see warblers, vireos, thrushes, tanagers and other songbirds passing through or establishing nest sites and singing to announce their territory. Along the river there is a good chance to see a bald eagle, common mergansers or possibly an osprey.

The walk is free. Light refreshments will be available in the Butterfly Barn. There is no rain date and the walk will occur in a light rain if necessary.
