CAS presents a twofer
LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY The Catskill Art Society will present two exhibitions starting on May 23: Shhh! CAS Silent Auction Benefit, a curated exhibition of work by local artists to benefit the CAS Arts Center; and Scenes of Sullivan County, in celebration of the Bicentennial, guest curated by Tom Nickou. Both will be held at the CAS Arts Center, 48 Main Street. There will be an opening reception for both from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd, and a closing reception on June 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served at both.
The CAS Silent Auction Benefit exhibition, appearing in gallery one and the main hall, will feature over 40 works by 30 artists that visitors can bid on, win and take home the day the exhibition closes. Participating artists have donated their work, and include Suzanne BeVier, Jane Biron, Joel Carreiro, Glenn Church, Hisako Kobayashi and Nancy Wells, among many others. Auction artwork will be viewable online at catskillartsociety.org.
The Scenes of Sullivan County, in celebration of the Bicentennial exhibition, will appear in gallery two, and will feature the work of a variety of other local artists, including Erma Carlson, Michael R. Deangelis, Jr., Una Evers, Linda Hare, George Hendrickson, Ann Higgins, Elise Hornbeck, Richard Price, Gloria Wagenknecht and Jack Yelle. Gallery hours will be on Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and by appointment. The CAS Arts Center is wheel chair accessible.
